Why are there recurring delivery delays?

The delay in delivery is the result of a situation, which in itself is excellent: we saw an unprecedented bike boom in 2020. More people are hopping on bikes and opting for an active, environmentally sound and climate-friendly form of mobility. More people than ever before are buying bikes. (This is also due to the COVID 19 measures in place in a number of countries.) This bike boom has created a noticeable spike in demand for bikes and bike components.

On the one hand, we are of course very happy that bike riding is more and more popular, but on the other hand, we are not at all happy that you have to wait for your woom bike or in some cases cannot even order it. We understand your disappointment – the current situation is also frustrating for us.

The extremely high demand for our bikes has thrown a major spanner into our production planning process. A bike is a very complex product that comprises numerous individual components. Compounding the difficulty is the fact that we've engineered nearly all of our components specially for children, and they have to be custom manufactured for our woom bikes (parts like our ergonomic saddle and our child-friendly cranks and grips). The bikes cannot be built until every one of these components arrives at the workshops.

We have scaled up our production as much as possible but our suppliers are pushing their limits at the moment, which means that they can only deliver our orders after long delays.

Nevertheless, you can be sure that we are pulling out all the stops to make the wait time for your woom bike as short as possible and make our bikes available in the shop as quickly as possible.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
