How exactly does the woom 10-year warranty work?

With immediate effect, the woom 10-year warranty can be activated for all new woom bikes purchased via our online shop or from our woom dealers. We are also offering extended warranties to all owners of woom bikes with a current (two-year) warranty as well as to purchasers of used bikes. Depending on whether you bought the bike new or used, there are different requirements for activating the extended warranty:

1. NEW PURCHASE: You purchased your woom bike NEW on or after 1 June 2022:

    • Register your woom bike here within nine weeks of the date of purchase to extend the warranty from two to ten years.
    • Please retain your proof of purchase– you will need it to activate the 10-year warranty, to transfer the warranty extension to a subsequent owner, and in the event of damage.
    • Claims under the warranty must always be made via an authorised woom dealer (ideally the dealer that originally sold the bike) or by sending woom an e-mail directly to woom@woom.com if the bike was purchased from the woom online shop. The e-mail must contain the frame number, proof of purchase, and photos or videos clearly showing the defect.

2. NEW PURCHASE: You purchased your woom bike NEW between 1 June 2020 and 31 May 2022:

    • Register your woom bike here by 30 September 2022 to extend the warranty from two to ten years.
3. NEW/USED PURCHASE: You purchased your woom bike new or used prior to 1 June 2020:

    • Unfortunately, your two-year warranty has expired, so you can't extend the warranty.

4. USED PURCHASE: You purchased a used woom bike that has already been registered for the 10-year warranty by the previous owner:

    • Ask the previous owner to give you the proof of purchase and the registration confirmation.
    • Requirement for the warranty transfer: Take your used woom bike to a bike shop for servicing immediately after you buy it. woom does not cover the costs of servicing.
    • Optional: Send the service receipt including the frame number to woom@woom.com so that we can assign the frame number registered in our system to you and transfer the warranty extension to you.
    • Keep the invoice for this servicing (service receipt) – you will need it in the event of damage.
    • Claims under the warranty following successful registration must always be made via an authorised woom dealer (ideally the dealer that originally sold the bike) or by using our contact form if the bike was purchased from the woom online shop. The form will ask you for the frame number, proof of purchase, a service receipt, and photos or videos clearly showing the defect.

5. USED PURCHASE: You've bought a used woom bike that was purchased by the original owner in the period between 1 June 2020 and 31 May 2022 but was NOT registered for the 10-year warranty:

    • Ask the previous owner to provide you with proof of the initial purchase.
    • Take your used woom bike to a bike shop and have it serviced. Keep the invoice for this servicing (service receipt).
    • Register your woom bike here by 30 September 2022 to extend the warranty from two to ten years. Please send us proof of the initial purchase and an invoice for servicing (service receipt) after the purchase. (Please save the original invoices).

Policy following 30 September 2022:

6. USED PURCHASE: You bought a used woom bike, the date of the initial purchase falls on or after 1 June 2022and the bike was NOT registered by the previous owner:

    • For bikes purchased new on or after 1 June 2022, registration by the initial purchaser is required within nine weeks.
    • If a new bike isn't registered by the initial purchaser within the first nine weeks of the purchase, it is no longer eligible for registration. In this case, the second owner can no longer register the woom bike for the extended warranty.
    • But the two-year warranty (from the date of the initial purchase) still applies to all bike components – even for you as the second owner.
